Foundation of Flow: 3 Part Workshop Series with Elisa Mott Jones, Ed.S, NCC, RMHCI, E-RYT 500
Explore the purpose and function of proper placement and alignment of the body to enhance and expand your experience in commonly practiced flow yoga poses. Whether you want to become more confident and effective in faster-paced flow practices or you desire more efficiency and attention to detail in your already proficient flow practice, this workshop series is designed for you. All practitioners will be encouraged to utilize blocks, straps, blankets and the wall as tools to deepen sensory awareness.
Module 1: Feet/Hands
Oct 21, 28 and November 4
Develop a firm foundation for each pose from the bottoms of your feet to the tips of your fingertips. These 3 classes will help you develop smooth transitions between poses and enhance the prana(lifeforce) of a pose through proper placement of feet and hands.
Module 2: Knees/Hips
December 2nd, 9th, 16th
Learn to prevent injuries to the knee and hip joints by aligning the body appropriately in common injury-prone poses like Warrior and Triangle pose. Explore the relationship between the knee and hip joints and how they must work together for the pose to properly align.
Module 3: Ribcage/Shoulders
January 6th, 13th, 20th
Play with the subtleties of twisting from your ribcage rather than your shoulders - a common error that causes back pain. Explore the nuances of your front, back and side ribs along with your shoulder joint to create more fluidity and freedom in the pose.
