Intentional Living Series Part 1 with Sara Eavenson

A series of classes and workshops that focus on shifting and changing our mind with the tools and practices of Yoga and its sister science, Ayurveda.

Part 1. Using Yoga to Change Your Perspective and Support Your Mind
It is so hard to change your mind. Once your mind has been made up or once you have had a certain experience that’s created an impression of patterning, it can be challenging to change your perspective. Even if you know that it would be helpful to let something go or to think differently about it.

But the tools of yoga present a (back) doorway in to the self.... in to seeing and knowing our self a lot more clearly. That (back) door way in is through the
practice of building self awareness.Using various teachings and the practicality of simple movement, breath
(pranayama) and beginning mediation techniques, Sara will teach the principles and the how to’s of holding space for oneself with more neutrality, tenderness and curiosity. Together we will unpack our human need to control and the suffering that occurs if we don’t come to terms with the fact that we can’t really control life (or others).

The path of Yoga is one that takes some time and some self effort, but by simply learning to breathe more deeply and completely, to relax and to train the mind
to turn its gaze inside to see a whole other realm of self, the strong holds of mind began to loosen. (We don’t have to force the mind to change, we can simply learn to change our awareness.)

During this workshop, Sara will share her own story with you whilst teaching and offering simple home practices that will start you on the path to changing and soothing your own mind.

Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse with Sara Eavenson

2:00 PM14:00

Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse with Sara Eavenson

“Ayur" means science and “veda” means life. The sister science to Yoga, Ayurveda was developed thousands of years ago by the ancient yogis and sages as a health care practice to support vitality and well living. The goal is to maintain wellness and prevent dis-ease. Thousands of years later, this science is the antidote to our standard busy and stressed out lifestyle.

Ayurveda is not rigid or hard. It does not feel like another insurmountable task. Instead, Ayruveda meets you where you are at and looks to nourish and build your strength and vitality in a way that feels accessible and ease-ful.

Spring is a time where we are moving out of the heavier winter months, where it has been cooler and wetter and heavier. The foods we have been eating tend to be heavier and more dense too. The Ayurveds saw this time of transition in to spring as one of the most opportune times to cleanse and reset the digestive fire. A little bit longer than a traditional fall rejuvenation cleanse like the one we did in September at the studio, this program is designed to reboot the digestive system using a healing, cleansing and purifying protocol that can last from 3 - 7 days.

Why do an Ayurvedic cleanse? I love Ayurveda for so many reasons but perhaps one of the most important reasons is that Ayurveda is not a one size fits all. Not every cleanse fits every person. Each of us are different - we have different elemental energies (doshas), different symptomology and different life experiences and health histories. Ayurveda takes all of this in to account and I will too. During the workshop we will discuss the different types of digestion and digestive imbalance and you will be able to identify where you fall in this range. Specific protocols for each “type” will then be suggested as we follow the cleanse and then transition back in to our regular, (and maybe slightly revised) eating habits. We will also talk about eating habits and how to keep digestive fire kindled so that we feel energized, vital and lighter in our body.

Additionally we will discuss the spices found in kitchari and why they support the body in cleansing. Together we will eat a small sampling of kitchari as we discuss what we are learning.

This spring we will do the cleanse together as a group to offer you the support and accountability you may need in order to follow through. It will also provide the space for you to ask questions and get any feedback you might want. Included in the program is the cost of the split mung beans (much of what you will eat) as well as the herbal supplement you will use to support the detox process. The group will meet Saturday March 30 in the studio and then on a private facebook group as the week progresses. I will also keep an email thread open for those who are not on facebook.

Cost: $30.00. Includes workshop, lunch, bag organic split mung beans, herbal supplement. Additionally, follow up support group on facebook or email.

Ayurveda 101 with Sara Eavenson

Ayurveda is an ancient holistic healing practice that is still relevant today. What is it and why might it be meaningful for you? Grounded in the principles and rhythms of nature, Ayurveda literally translates as the knowledge of life. And its name says it all. Ayurveda is a body of wisdom that teaches us how to live healthfully and happily in our body in the most natural way possible. Ayurveda can be used to support and treat every day issues that make us feel less than ideal - like bloating, stomach-aches, lethargy and sleeplessness. But, Ayurveda is not limited to being a way to treat symptoms and dis-ease. First & foremost, Ayurveda is a way of life, a way to live your life to support health and prevent disease by learning to live harmoniously with our natural rhythms and needs. Its almost like an instruction manual as to how to live our most vital and connected life. And although it sounds mystical and complex, the beauty is that its quite the opposite.

Ayurvedic self care makes sense. It is practical and wise and the more we come to this practice, the more attuned we become with the deeper rhythms and awarenesses of our true self. Truly as beings, we are made up of the same elements as everything else in the universe. We are the microcosm of the macrocosm and as such we move through cycles and rhythms that we have forgotten affect us. But with Ayurveda we begin to remember, to attune and to come back home to the innate and intuitive wisdom of our true self.

Join Sara Eavenson, Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, for this 2 hour introductory Ayurveda workshop and walk away with a simple instruction manual for daily tweaks for more holistic living. Learn about the Ayurvedic clock, your own natural rhythms and constitution (dosha) and the life changing practices of Dinacharya/Daily Routine.

Learn To Meditate: A Four Part Workshop Series with Sara Eavenson

Learn To Meditate: A Four Part Workshop Series with Sara Eavenson

Learn to meditate and to implement an at home meditation practice. The benefits can be profound. Whether you’ve been practicing meditation for a while or are new to this practice, this workshop will support a deepening experience.

Why should we meditate? Very simply, meditation is a practice that supports the health & stability of our mind & our body. In this modern world, our mind is inundated with information, to do lists, worries and fears. Think of meditation like dental floss for the mind. It literally allows for a cleansing and spaciousness to develop which then affords more clarity, discernment and a less reactive state of being. With this calmer state of being, comes the ability for the body to relax and rest - which is the only state that can promote health, healing & wellbeing.

I’ve heard so many students say “I can’t meditate. I can’t sit still. My mind races too much.” This is actually a big indication that this student is an ideal candidate for meditation. The busy mindedness and frenetic energy that so many of us feel in life is not who we actually are - it is just the effect of life upon us. When we learn to meditate we begin to calm that energy and see that ultimately who we are is a reflection of our energy and the energy and awareness that we cultivate. Will it be calm and easeful or frenetic and not within our control?

Who is Lani…

Lani Goodrich is the artist behind Avenue Pottery. She started her artistic career as an art teacher in South Florida. Shortly after realizing this was becoming more of a part time job, she decided to pursue a teaching degree in science. Art was always a part of her science curriculum and she loved to cover her chalkboards with detailed and meticulously labeled diagrams of cells, atoms or whatever else the lesson called for. She always encouraged her students to use art in whatever aspect of school that they could find an application.

After the birth of her first child, she decided to stay home to raise her, and before long had two more daughters.

Always itching to get back into the art world, she began to learn the discipline of wheel throwing in a pottery studio built by her husband and located in the back yard or their Florida home. It is there that she created the first line of Avenue Pottery, and where she still to this day creates each handmade item, one at a time on the wheel.  Each piece is then glazed by hand dipping and fired again to a temperature that transforms it into stoneware. Stoneware is a slightly more durable form of pottery that stands up better to everyday use.

Each piece is made in a studio, not in a factory. Thank you for supporting a small, local business.
